BIO

Q: Who is Taryn Rosenberg?

I am a Blogger, Photographer, Social Media Marketer and Dog-Momma living in the fabulous city of Chicago. I’m originally from Long Island, New York, but after graduating from Indiana University in the spring of 2013 (GO HOOSIERS), I couldn’t bear the thought of leaving the midwest.

In my spare time, I can be found behind my camera, in a community fitness class (#TeamClassPass), or making a huge mess in my kitchen. Aside from that, I also absolutely love:

  • Music festivals
  • Dark chocolate
  • Yoga
  • Trader Joe’s
  • Traveling– anywhere and everywhere
  • Hosting Shabbat dinners (I’m not just saying that)
  • My rescue pup, Chewy
  • #Hashtags
  • And writing for my lifestyle Blog, Soul Cookies, which empowers others to make social media and the blogosphere a more transparent, honest place

Q: In your own words, how would you describe the Communications Manager position?

I will be making OneTable’s website, blog, social media channels and SideDish emails shine! I’m the person that beams with pride when hosts and guests use the hashtag #MyOneTable, and I’m also the person that comments back with a thumbs up!

Be sure to follow @OneTableShabbat on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and look out for us on Pinterest and Snapchat in the coming weeks!

Q: Since your job is all about online engagement: what are some of your favorite resources and/or online personalities?

Great question! I think Refinery29 does a fabulous job of curating relevant, branded video content, and I always get excited when they pop up on my newsfeed. I could also spend hours watching Buzzfeed’s mesmerizing Tasty videos, but who couldn’t?!

As far as online personalities and bloggers, @WhatJewWannaEat, @Splendid_Rags and @MommasGoneCity are among my favorites! I always find myself scrolling through their Instagram feed’s to make sure I didn’t miss anything.

Q: What brings you to OneTable?

I LOVE Shabbat. Through every stage of my life, Shabbat has brought me tremendous comfort and I love the idea of bringing that comfort to others. When I found out I could flex my marketing muscles all while encouraging others to unwind on Friday night, I was 100% sold. I’m pretty thrilled you guys were sold on me, too!

Q: Is there anything else we should know about you?

When I found out that I got this job at OneTable, my mom gifted me my great-grandma Jenny’s tablecloth that she hand-stitched just before she passed away. It is absolutely gorgeous.

This past Friday, I was finally able to put that tablecloth to use as hosted my first OneTable Shabbat dinner for 15 friends. Not only did I use my great-grandma Jenny’s tablecloth, but it was placed on the table her daughter, my grandmother, bought me just before she died.  I come from a long line of strong Jewish women and I absolutely love that they played a part in my dinner.

SHABBAT

OneTable empowers people who don’t yet have a consistent Shabbat dinner practice to build one that feels authentic, sustainable, and valuable. The OneTable community is funded to support people (21-39ish), not in undergraduate studies, and without an existing weekly Shabbat practice, looking to find and share this powerful experience.
