OneTable Announces Key New Additions and Promotions to Leadership Team

OneTable, a national non-profit funded to support young adults (21-39ish) looking to find and share the powerful experience of a Shabbat dinner practice that is authentic, sustainable, and valuable, today announced three key additions to their leadership team:

  • Abbie Barash (she/her) was promoted from her previous role as Field Manager, Cascadia to Associate Director, Field Operations;
  • Lizzy Wallis (she/they) was promoted from her previous role as Field Manager, Colorado to Associate Director, Field Operations; and
  • Nathan Rubinger (he/him) joins OneTable as Associate Director, New York.

Abbie, Lizzy, and Nathan join Amy Bebchick (she/her), Chief Program Officer, and Dani Kohanzadeh (she/her), Senior Associate Director of Field and Partnerships, on the Field Leadership Team.

“As we are all enjoying the vibrant return of in-person activities, OneTable is proud to add key new members to our team to help young adults nationwide build an authentic and meaningful Shabbat dinner practice,” said Emily Zussman, Director of People and Culture. “Abbie, Nathan and Lizzy all bring valuable experience and expertise that will help OneTable expand our reach and provide more opportunities for our hosts and participants to build their Shabbat traditions.”

Abbie Barash (she/her): Associate Director, Field Operations
Abbie Barash (she/her) joined OneTable in July 2019 and in November 2022 was promoted to Associate Director, Field Operations. Abbie was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, and grew up with a consistent family Shabbat practice. She then pursued her undergraduate and graduate studies in California, where she earned a BA in Religious Studies and an MDiv in Interfaith Chaplaincy. After a brief stint working as a hospital chaplain in Tacoma, WA, Abbie and her partner moved to Portland and fell in love with the outdoors, hiking, snowboarding, and wine tasting. In July 2019, Abbie started part-time at OneTable as the Portland Field Fellow, where she supported the OneTable community there in all things Shabbat. As Abbie’s role grew, she had opportunities to expand her reach throughout the Pacific Northwest as the Cascadia (Portland/Seattle) Field Manager. In her new role as AD of Field, Abbie is excited to use her creativity and leadership skills to support the Field Team nationwide, as well as bring new ideas toward reaching OneTable’s ambitious strategic goals.

Lizzy Wallis (she/they): Associate Director, Field Operations
Lizzy Wallis (she/they) is an enthusiastic relationship builder. She loves curating intentional gatherings for people and helping them to create these meaningful experiences as well. Prior to working for OneTable, Lizzy started her career at the University of Wisconsin Hillel, first as the Springboard Social Justice Fellow for two years and then staying on as the Director of Engagement. After moving back to Denver and working in the secular non-profit sector, she missed having her work infused with Jewish community and culture. Lizzy joined the OneTable team April 2021, first as the Colorado Field Manager, and then stepped into the role of Associate Director of Field. After over five years at the micro level work of community building, they are enjoying the macro level of this work, supporting our incredible field team in bringing and strengthening connections to Shabbat across the country. Outside of work, Lizzy loves being in nature and the mountains every chance they get – from hiking to skiing to camping, nature is where Lizzy finds the opportunity to slow down and rejuvenate herself. She also loves reading, cooking new recipes with her partner, and exploring Denver’s brewery scene.

Nathan Rubinger (he/him): Associate Director, New York
Nathan is a seasoned professional with a diverse background in both Jewish non-profit organizations and political campaigns. He has gained a wealth of experience in strategic planning, operations, and voter engagement throughout his career. Nathan began his journey in the non-profit sector, where he served as the National Advisor for Young Judaea, a prominent Jewish youth movement. Additionally, Nathan worked in operations for the Foundation for Jewish Camp. Transitioning to the political sphere, Nathan has been involved in a range of campaigns from local city council races to high-stakes presidential elections.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Nathan loves to spend time in the kitchen cooking and baking, always trying new recipes. Nathan is passionate about New York history, and exploring its neighborhoods, culture, cuisines, and history. As a firm believer in the power of social change, he is inspired by the city’s resilience and constantly seeks opportunities to make a positive impact on his community. Nathan is incredibly excited to join OneTable as Associate Director for New York and looks forward to growing the OneTable Community.

“We are certainly excited about the growth and new perspectives each of our new team members brings to OneTable,” continued Zussman. “Abbie, Nathan, and Lizzy will each make their unique impact as we all work together to grow authentic Shabbat dinner practices throughout our communities.”
