Job Description
The Philadelphia Community Manager is a revisioned full-time position that will oversee OneTable and OneTable Together’s growth and involvement in Philadelphia. They will build dynamic relationships with hosts, guests and key stakeholders. As with all OneTable roles, this position is iterative and will evolve over time with input across teams.
The Philadelphia Community Manager will contribute to OneTable’s mission by:
- Immersing themself in the Philadelphia community, spreading OneTable and OneTable Together’s brand awareness to build a movement of peer-led Shabbat dinners for the 20s and 30s and 50+ demographics.
- Integrating innovative ideas for growing dinners, seats, and people into their work.
- Supporting OneTable users in developing the confidence and agency to craft their own Shabbat dinners and to shape an enduring Shabbat practice.
- Enriching the OneTable Jewish journey experience for users through Shabbat and ritual coaching and workshops.
Specific responsibilities include:
Community Engagement
- Act as the face of OneTable locally with users, partners, donors
- Strategically map out the community and engage potential users where they are
- Create and implement high-touch user engagement strategies for both the 20s and 30s as well as those who are 50+ based on trends and behaviors you’re seeing (out in the world, and in our data)
- Build new and deepen existing relationships with hosts and guests via phone, email, and/or in-person meetings (vetting, welcoming, providing ongoing one-on-one support)
- Plan and execute intimate and larger Shabbat events and ensure post-event engagement where opportunity arises
- Steward new partnership and sponsorship opportunities in the areas
- Coach hosts and guests to deepen their experience, familiarity, and knowledge of Shabbat and Friday night rituals (through one-on-one coaching, weekly OneTable together host trainings and ritual workshops).
- Collaborate with the impact and learning team and engage in new strategies, events, and outreach to reach organizational goals
Advancement/ External Relations
- Connect regularly with users to collect stories to share with key stakeholders including funders, board members, and media outlets
- Contribute to grant writing and reporting and other funder communications
Manage Data and Internal Communications
- Track participants, monitor progress towards goals, run reports, and analyze data in our Salesforce CRM
- Consistent communication with National Field Operations team to maintain awareness and accountability of hub trends, challenge-areas, and data
- Communicate consistently and clearly internally with colleagues via Slack, Zoom, Google Suite, and other tech tools
Key Attributes/Skill Set (Must Have):
- 1-3 years of professional experience in relevant community-building roles.
- You have a love for and deep connection to Jewish life, community, ritual, and Shabbat. You are comfortable in diverse and varied Jewish spaces and are confident guiding, coaching, and working with others to explore and deepen their Jewish identity.
- You have empathy for those in their 20s and 30s as well as the unique needs of those 50+.
- You love to be the host and meet new people. You can build welcoming spaces and create beautiful tablescapes. You are willing to work some evenings (Fridays, of course) and weekend hours. You are the go-to person for all our local events and partnerships, and serve as the educator, trainer, ambassador, and cheerleader for all local hosts and partners.
- You prefer to be away from your desk/computer screen and out in the community. You should be out at events, in coffee shops meeting people and introducing them to Shabbat! (this role requires someone to spend time on-the-ground, meeting people and building community.)
- You love to use data to figure out what is missing and how to make things better and better, good is never really good enough.
- You are a dynamic team player expected to prototype ideas, iterate quickly, and collaborate across the Field Team ensuring there is never a boring day!
- You are comfortable working independently in your community while sharing your experiences and areas of expertise across the organization.
- You are strongly connected to the OneTable brand and mission. You understand our goals, voice, and mission and can imbue that into your 1:1 connections, larger events, and partnership strategy.
- You are comfortable and excited about handling risk and uncertainty. You understand that taking calculated risks can lead to growth and progress along the way to build something amazing!
- Availability to travel annually for the OneTable team retreat.
Benefits Package:
The starting salary for this position starts at $56,000 plus the following benefits:
- Health insurance — medical, dental, and vision insurance currently through Aetna; OneTable pays 85% of the healthcare premium for each employee and 50% for dependents.
- 5% retirement match after 13 months.

- The office is closed for all major Jewish holidays and most federal holidays.
- OneTable offices are also closed the July 4th week and December 25 – January 1.
- As an organization rooted in the mission of spreading Shabbat, we know the importance of having time on Fridays to start winding down and preparing for our favorite weekly holiday. The OneTable offices close at 4:00 pm (local time) every Friday and at 12:00 pm on the first Friday of each month.
